Letters to OVPC from Peter Turner and Richard Sorensen

My letter to the commissioners about the Powder Mtn Rezone:

I oppose any rezone to Powder Mountain that causes an increase in the number of residential or lodging units or size of development. I do not want the increased traffic and population density in Ogden Valley or the impact on water supplies. I do not want the negative impact it will have on all of the existing and new residents of the Valley.

Development of the proposed size in the rezone will destroy forever the very things being marketed as the advantages of the rezone. Powder Mtn will no longer be a unique serene powder skiing area of high quality snow. It will become a rat race of a ski area, covered with lifts and trails going everywhere, mobbed with people, hard to access through all the traffic and a Disney School of Architecture sterile mountain town for the benefit of people who do not live here. Instead of its totally unique character that it has always had it will be just like all the other mega resorts already available in Utah, Colorado, Europe, eastern US, etc. The people who do live here in Ogden Valley will pay dearly in lifestyle and economic costs forever to serve these tourists and the developers trying to make even more money now. I do not want my property taxes to increase further based on the purchasing power of Southern California and other urban US areas drawn to such a development.

Do not allow any rezone to Powder Mountain that causes an increase in the number of residential or lodging units or size of development.

Letter to OVPC from Richard Sorensen

Dear Commissioners:

I fully agree with and support Marian Martin's concerns regarding the requested addition of a carport/garage with 4 parking areas in Phases 1 and 2 of the Edgewater Beach Resort, and urge you to DENY the request.

Ms. Martin's placement of one of the most pristine properties in Utah into the Ogden Valley Land Trust was probably the most generous gift EVER given to the residents of Ogden Valley.

In contrast, the Ski Lake developer's greed has been one of the most selfish acts. You may recall during the Planning Commission approval a few years ago, Mr. Catanzero "settled" for slightly less than his original ask, only to renege now.

His proposal does not fit what was originally proposed and allowed, and is a slap in the face of Ms. Martin and her generous gift.

Please vehemently DENY the request.

Sincerely,

Richard L. Sorensen
